The 18th NOWPAP DINRAC Focal Points Meeting was held virtually

The 18th NOWPAP DINRAC Focal Points Meeting was held virtually on 14th January 2021. The representative from the Department of Marine Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Ecology and Environment of China attended the meeting and made opening remarks, which expressed the significance of the in-depth cooperation in the marine environment of the Northwest Pacific region and the expectation of discussion for marine environmental related goals in UN 2030 Agenda at the regional level. DINRAC Focal Points/representatives of the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea and Russia Federation, representatives from NOWPAP Regional Coordinating Unit, and other regional marine environmental experts attended the meeting.

The meeting reviewed and adopted the progress made since the 17th DINRAC Focal Points Meeting and the related final reports, including Major Marine Environmental Data Available Project, Collection of Data and Information on Species Filed in the Red Lists Project (the third stage), Human Marine Activity Project (Sustainable Ports), Sea Reclamation State and Management Project, Development of DINRAC Website and WebGIS System etc. The meeting also discussed and agreed on the implementation plan and budget for DINRAC activities in 2021. 

The DINRAC Thematic Areas Workshop was held back to back with the 18th DINRAC Focal Points Meeting, the Focal Points discussed the future arrangements on Northwest Pacific Regional Node of the Global Partnership on Marine Litter (GPML), the coherence working area based on the NOWPAP Mid-Term Strategy 2018-2023 as well as the future directions of DINRAC.
