NOWPAP DINRAC participated the Consultation Meeting of Freshwater Health Index (Dongjiang Project)
Freshwater Health Index (Dongjiang Project) Consultation Meeting was held on November 13 in Guangzhou, China. The consultation meeting was jointly hosted by Conservation International (CI), International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Research Center for water resources and environment of Sun Yat-sen University; and was co-organized by Guangzhou Ocean and fisheries Nature Reserve Management Station. More than 30 representatives from government, universities, enterprises and NGO participated the consultation meeting.
Freshwater Health Index is aimed to systematically evaluate the watershed ecosystem vitality, ecosystem services, and management mechanisms from watershed scale, and eventually providing reference to the public and policy maker. At the meeting, the Freshwater Health Index project director introduced the Freshwater Health Index in details to the representatives, and also the FHI indicators’ definition and methodologies has been discussed and reviewed.
Mr. Yan Feng has attended the consultation meeting representing NOWPAP DINRAC, introduced the major activities of DINRAC to representatives. Many experts expressed that it would be necessary to improve the cooperation among government, universities, enterprises, NGO, international and regional organizations including NOWPAP DINRAC in terms of data and information sharing of watershed ecosystem management for regional environmental governance.
